The product redesign project was done in two phases, the teardown and the redesign. We were tasked to find an old piece of technology, do a teardown to understand its functionality and then redesign the externals around the internals.
In the case of the PS2, I also had another motive. As competitive controller users know, using both the joysticks and buttons in tandem requries a rather uncomfortable "claw" grip. In my redesign I aimed to tackle this by moving around the button layout for a more ergonomic grip.
The final deliverables of this project were a teardown overview, some conceptual sketches and a CAD assembly with detailed internals.
